The Rhythm and Rhyme Child Care Center philosophy is based on the knowledge that children will develop emotionally, cognitively and creatively, through child-initiated activities, hands-on experiences and family-teacher partnerships. Positive, nurturing interaction between adults and children will foster and enrich the child’s social skills. We believe that children need to be actively involved in learning through play in a safe, environmentally friendly atmosphere.
About our Curriculum The Rhythm and Rhyme Child Care Center follows The Creative Curriculum. The Creative Curriculum is based on early-childhood philosophy and research and recognizes that children learn through play experiences. It guides the teachers to plan developmentally appropriate activities and focus on children's individual abilities. Teachers incorporate their knowledge of child development to create an environment that is best for children. The Creative Curriculum utilizes themed learning centers including blocks, toys and games, art, library, discovery, sand and water, music and movement, cooking, computers and outdoor activities. The children are assessed during the year using the Creative Curriculum Checklist and teacher-developed observations. This information is used to make a plan for each child. The information is shared with parents several times a year at a parent-teacher conference. At the conference and other informal meetings during the year, parents have the opportunity to have input regarding learning activities. Parent involvement is encouraged. Parents are a welcome presence in the classroom. Some parents volunteer or have lunch with their children
